Hello and thanks for tuning in. My name is Emily and I have been passionately dedicated to eating well and living a liberated life, free from body oppression and general "rules" for how a lady is supposed to be for quite a while now. It all began about 10 years ago when a roommate made me realize I had no idea how to cook. I grew up with a mother who was a dietitian and always asked me if I wanted to help in the kitchen. I always said no. Maybe I just needed to come to the conclusion on my own. Now I love to cook. Chopping garlic brings great joy to my life. But really, all food does.

My interest in nutrition and health was sparked at the same time my adventures in cooking began. I was having some concerning digestive struggles that I wanted to heal holistically. Plus, I’d been to the doctor and that did absolutely nothing. I became aware of just how directly what we eat, and more importantly, how we eat, dictates how we feel - emotionally and physically.

I naturally progressed to cooking with lots of whole foods, using herbs and spices, fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables, all kinds of proteins, cheeses, legumes, and grains. I eat everything. I do not label foods as good or bad, but do try to include lots of fiber and phytochemicals in my diet, generally.

As a recent graduate from an excellent graduate program in human nutrition (yay!) and a "young" pup off to start her career as a nutritionist (and soon to be dietitian), I've decided to start officially sharing my knowledge and insight into what I love most. The focus of this blog will be sharing recipes that are delicious, nutritious, and simple. As a nutritionist dedicated to helping others find a balance between living healthful lives, enjoying every bite of food they take, and managing their busy lives, I will be chiming in with tips on how to make your food work for you, your body, and your lifestyle, no matter your time or money constraints.

So what do I eat?

First and foremost, I am a produce enthusiast. I can’t believe people are cutting out fruit these days! How could they!? These amazingly delicious superfoods provide us with beaucoup nutrients only they can provide. Fruits is luscious and magical and tart and juicy and... great in a margarita. Drool.

I do not believe in fad or restrictive diets. I do not believe in “bad” foods or in “being good” - I am soooooo sick of hearing people say this. I do, however, understand that not all food or eating strategies work for all people. You can learn to listen to your body and eat what’s best for you. It can be hard to sort through the overwhelming amount of nutrition information out there. That’s what I’m here for.

Always feel free to contact me with questions or comments.

I hope you enjoy and thanks for reading.
