Eating Disorders & Disordered Eating Nutrition Counseling

FEEL BETTER IN YOUR BODY. HEAL YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD. CARE FOR YOUR WHOLE SELF.

If you feel exhausted, anxious, or ashamed about how you eat, you’re not alone. And you’re not failing.

Disordered eating isn’t always visible, nor is it easy to stop. And it certainly isn’t something you can just “fix” with more willpower.

Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions that need compassionate, thorough, professional support.

As a registered dietitian specializing in eating disorders, I offer a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach to healing. I help people unlearn harmful food beliefs, reconnect with their body’s cues, and find peace with food again.

You don’t have to hit “rock bottom” to deserve help. You don’t even have to feel ready. We’ll work from where you’re at.

Whether you’re just out of treatment somewhere else, or just reaching out for help for the first time, you’re welcome here.

What I Support Clients With

I support people struggling with all forms of disordered eating, including:

Binge eating disorder (BED) and undiagnosed binge eating

Anorexia (nervosa and atypical), bulimia nervosa, OSFED, and ARFID

Orthorexia and rigid food rules

Emotional and stress-based eating patterns

Disordered eating during life transitions (college, pregnancy, perimenopause)

Chronic dieting and body image concerns

Whether you have a formal diagnosis or just know something isn’t right with food, I’ll meet you where you are.

My Approach To Eating Disorder Care

Gentle, Individualized Structure

Some people need more food structure to feel safe; others need less. I use tools like gentle nutrition and flexible meal frameworks only when supportive, not to recreate diet culture. We focus on building confidence without shame.

Intuitive Eating, Tailored to You

Intuitive eating isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it’s definitely not the “hunger-fullness diet.” We might explore body cues, investigate food guilt, or challenge beliefs that create restriction. Our work is collaborative and centered on what helps you feel free.

Mindfulness & Somatic Practices

We use breathwork, body scans, and nervous system awareness to reduce food anxiety and create safety in your body. This helps you stay present rather than dissociating during meals or triggering moments.

Therapeutic Integration

I weave in tools from DBT (emotional regulation), IFS (working with protective parts), and trauma-informed approaches to help you feel calmer, more grounded, and better able to cope with food and body stressors.

Safe, Collaborative Care

My priority is that you feel seen, safe, and never rushed. You’ll leave sessions with hope, practical tools, and a deeper understanding of yourself. I coordinate with your care team to ensure comprehensive support.

My Approach To Eating Disorder Nutrition Care Is

Justice-Centered and Liberation-Focused

Your eating disorder exists within systems of oppression. I help you understand how fatphobia, sexism, capitalism, and diet culture created the conditions for your struggles—so you can stop blaming yourself and start healing from the roots up.

Evidence-Based Yet Holistic

I use proven therapeutic approaches including evidenced-based nutrition and medical nutrition therapy, Intuitive Eating, but also use elements of DBT, IFS, somatic practices when appropriate. You’re the expert on your own experience, I just bring clinical knowledge to support your journey.

Trauma-Informed and Nervous System Aware

I recognize how past experiences, marginalization, and systemic trauma shape your relationship with food. I create a space that feels emotionally safe while helping you regulate your nervous system around eating.

Paced At The Speed Of Healing

There’s no rush, no timeline, no “should be better by now.” We move at a pace that respects your readiness, energy, and emotional capacity because sustainable change takes time.

HAES®-aligned and weight-inclusive

Recovery isn’t about reaching a certain weight. It’s about developing a peaceful, trusting relationship with food and your body—regardless of what that body looks like. Weight restoration happens naturally when we address the real issues.

What to expect…

N

Compassionate, shame-free support

You’ll never be judged for your eating patterns or blamed for your struggles. Eating disorders are responses to pain and systems, not personal failures.

N

Weight-neutral care

Your worth isn’t determined by a number on a scale and neither is your degree of health. We focus on making you feel well, free from food anxiety, and getting you adequately nourished. Health does not have a look.

N

A collaborative partnership

You’re the expert on your own experience. I bring clinical knowledge, but you guide what feels right for your recovery.

What not to expect…

M

Any food policing

I won’t tell you exactly what to eat or shame you for your choices. We’ll work together to rebuild trust with your body’s wisdom, not external rules. If you need more food structure and a meal plan, we’ll find one you’re happy with.

M

Weight Loss Focus

I do not believe you “need” to lose weight, no matter your size or diagnosis. Your body needs to feel safe in order for your relationship with food to improve. Undereating is never going to provide that.

M

Quick Fixes or Timelines

There’s no “12-week recovery program.” Healing happens on your timeline, not mine, and sustainable change takes time and patience.

What Working Together Looks Like

Free Discovery Call

We’ll talk about what’s going on for you, your goals, and whether we’re a good fit. No pressure—just a chance to get to know each other. You can book that here or send me a message if you’re unsure.

Regular Support Sessions

Weekly or biweekly sessions (25 or 50 minutes) based on your needs. If you choose a package program, you’ll also have between-session support and additional resources. When you’re ready to taper off, we can go down to once a month, once a quarter, or whatever cadence works for you.

Initial Assessment (90 minutes)

A deep dive into your history with food and your body, current struggles, and what you hope to achieve. We’ll create a collaborative plan that feels right for you. If you are ready to hit the ground running, you’re welcome to book that appointment here.

Ongoing Collaboration

I’ll coordinate with your therapist, doctor, or other providers throughout our work to ensure you’re fully supported on your recovery journey.

client stories

Alyssa

“All of these positive things started happening once I finally started eating enough.

I noticed a significant change in my ability to exercise. Once I started adequately fueling myself, my energy levels increased and my capacity to hold space for people grew.”

Sydney

“I started dieting when I was 8 years old. At 16, I found myself in the throes of a binge eating disorder. After years of working to heal my relationship to my body, I knew I was ready to do some more healing when it came to food. Working with Emily has transformed my relationship with food. She’s guided me through healing major anxieties around my diet and taught me how to fuel and energize my body in a way that supports my lifestyle and health.”

Sarah

“Nourishment doesn’t have to look like restricted, clean eating. It can feel like nourishing your soul, nourishing yourself in community, and giving your body what it actually needs.”

it’s normal to have questions…

some FAQ

Do I need a formal eating disorder diagnosis to work with you?

Not at all. Eating disorders are wildly underdiagnosed and undertreated, especially in larger bodies and marginalized communities. I believe self-diagnosis is completely valid. Whether you have a formal diagnosis or just know something isn’t right with food, I’ll meet you where you are and take your experience seriously.

How long does recovery typically take?

Everyone’s journey is different, but most clients work with me for 6 months to a year before we tapper off to less frequent sessions. Real healing takes time, and we’ll move at the pace that feels right for your nervous system and life circumstances. There’s no rush.

Can you work with my existing therapist or care team?

Absolutely! I love collaborating with therapists, psychiatrists, and other providers. Coordinated care leads to better outcomes, and I’m happy to be part of your support team to ensure you’re getting comprehensive care.

What if I'm terrified of gaining weight?

Fear of weight gain is one of the most common concerns in eating disorder recovery, and it’s completely understandable. We’ll work through these fears together at your pace, while helping you understand how your body finds its natural set point when properly nourished.

Do you provide meal plans?

Some clients need more structure initially, and if that’s you, we’ll work together to find flexible frameworks that support your recovery without recreating diet mentality. I like to use the plate method when appropriate.

Can you work with me if I have other mental health conditions?

Many people with eating disorders also experience anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma histories. I’m trained in trauma-informed care and work collaboratively with your mental health providers.

I have another question.

I’d love to talk to you. You can send me a message and let me know what your concerns are. If it seems smart, we can set up a discovery call to explore more.

Ready to start healing from the inside out?

This work requires courage, but you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to walk with you toward food freedom, body respect, and a life that isn’t controlled by food.
